Bombshell revelation: Russia is hiding behind Bulgaria's triumph in Eurovision 2026

Bombshell revelation: Russia is hiding behind Bulgaria's triumph in Eurovision 2026
The backstage of the victory: Filipp Kirkorov and the secret agreement

Although the lights on the stage of Vienna have gone out and Bulgaria is still celebrating its historic first victory in the institution of Eurovision 2026, the backstage information coming to light a few hours after the grand final causes an absolute shock to the whole of Europe. Behind the explosive spectacle of Dara and the track Bangaranga that swept the scoreboard, it was ultimately not only the talent of the young star that was hidden, but a highly classified, behind-the-scenes alliance. A secret Dream Team, guided by one of the most controversial and powerful figures of Russian showbiz, seems to have been pulling the strings in the shadows, setting up the operation gold microphone step by step and leaving its competitors stunned. The disclosures that follow are breathtaking and change the pop-political pop data of the contest.

Which Russian is hiding behind the Bulgarian victory

The Russian pop star Filipp Kirkorov was the key man who helped the representative of Bulgaria, Dara, to conquer the victory in the contest of Eurovision 2026. As was revealed, Bulgarian television approached the artist directly, officially asking him to support the performer in every way. This disclosure was made by Kirkorov himself during his appearance on the YouTube show of Yana Churikova.

The Dream Team and the creation of the hit

The team of Kirkorov caught on to work immediately, enlisting top names. Among them is the Greek composer Dimitris Kontopoulos, who is the creator of both songs with which the Russian singer Sergey Lazarev had competed in the past, and the Greek vocal expert Victoria Chalkiti. Through this joint effort, the song Bangaranga was born for the sake of Dara. "She had only one problem: she did not have a success, she did not have a hit. She possessed a voice, appearance, dance, but she lacked the milestone song. We, however, saw the potential. I saw immediately that she is a real diva", Kirkorov characteristically stated.

The international connections and the director of the winners

Using the powerful acquaintances of the Russian star, Bulgaria managed to secure the top director who would grant it the first place as well. Kirkorov came to a personal agreement with Fredrik Rydman, the man hiding behind the victorious stage presentations of Måns Zelmerlöw for Sweden in 2015 and of Nemo for Switzerland in 2024.

Dara leveled juries and public

It is recalled that although the bets were giving until the last moment as favorite the duo from Finland (which was finally limited to 6th place), Dara made the big turnaround. The 27-year-old pop star demolished the competition by gathering a total of 516 points. Bangaranga achieved something extremely rare, which had to happen since 2017: it won the first place both in the juries and in the public (televoting). Specifically, it garnered 204 points from the juries and 312 points from the global public. The song is signed by an international creative team, consisting of Anne Judith Wik (Norway), Cristian Tarcea (Romania), Darina Nikolaeva Yotova (the real name of Dara) and Dimitris Kontopoulos, produced by Starchyld X. Also, Victoria Chalkiti accompanied the singer on stage on backing vocals. The appearance of Bulgaria was a spectacle with raging rhythms and a flawless choreography. Dara explained that the track draws inspiration from the traditional Kukeri of Bulgaria —men with elaborate disguises who dance ritually to drive away evil spirits— combined with a high-end pop aesthetic. "It is incredible, I have not understood yet what is happening", Dara stated overjoyed at the press conference, thanking those who "felt the power of bangaranga".

The path of Bulgaria in Eurovision

Until yesterday evening, the relationship of Bulgaria with the contest was a story of great expectations and narrow misses. The country has participated in the contest 14 times since its debut in 2005 in Kyiv. Its most important milestones up to yesterday's historic victory were: 2007: The first big success with Water by Elitsa & Stoyan (5th place). 2016: Poli Genova returns dynamically and occupies the 4th place with If Love Was a Crime. 2017: The best position of the country until recently, with Kristian Kostov and Beautiful Mess touching the victory, finishing in 2nd place (behind Portugal). With the victory of Dara, Eurovision 2027 is officially packing suitcases for Bulgaria.

The thriller with the exclusion of Russia

A short time ago, the director of Eurovision, Martin Green, had proceeded with a new statement regarding the prospect of a future return of Russia to the music contest. It is worth noting that in his previous statements, he himself had emphasized with intensity that the country had been expelled from the organization not because of the military operation in Ukraine.
